The Century / Hassotel in Hasselt about Invest-Mobile’s electric golf cars:
Since two years people are driving around in electric golf cars in the city centre of Hasselt. These new means of transport are The Century’s property that transports their clients and luggage from hotel Grand Café in the Koning Albertstraat to the recently bought Hassotel. “From next year on we are going to rent about five cars”, says D. Beckers, manager. “People who would like to explore Hasselt and its surroundings can hire a vehicle and make an excursion with it. With that purpose in mind, we also have already bought vehicles for 6 to 8 passengers. After all, these golf cars are ideal urban vehicles. They are electric and make no noise. The vehicles have a number plate, lighting and safety seat belts and are in that way appropriate for public road use.
Tourist can explore Bilzen in golf cars:
Bilzen invests in this touristic project. The small golf cars are conquering the streets: in Hasselt they are using them to transport their guests, in Herkenrode to help disabled people and in Bilzen the touristic service will start to use 10 white golf cars for tourists or day trippers. “In Bilzen we are always looking for innovative initiatives that are attractive but also functional”, says mayor Johan Sauwen. “From now on we will rent the white cars – we would like to get rid off the golf image – to tourists or day trippers. This is a scoop for Belgium. Every person who has a B driving licence can drive with such a car, but we aim at two target groups: families with children who would calmly like to explore the surroundings, and older people who find the sloping landscape of Haspengouw too heavy to do by bike or on foot. The cars drive 25 km an hour and are ideal to explore the surroundings, the villages, the castles, Alden Biessen.”
